David Silcock graduated with a Master of Education from Southern Cross University in 2016, and was placed on the Dean’s Honours list for notable achievement for his research project. David is substantive principal at Alstonville High School having previously been principal at Bourke High School. David has worked as an executive in schools across rural Australia and as a consultant in Japan. He completed high school at Richmond River High School. From 2014 to 2017 David worked as Principal, School Leadership, at the NSW Department of Education and Communities, working with other school principals across NSW in the development of their leadership and workplace capabilities. He commenced this role in 2014 and will be in the position until the end of 2016.

David has been awarded a NSW Secondary Principal Council Distinguished Service Award and was the inaugural winner of the North Coast Secondary Principals Councils’ Principal Award. In 2016 he was recognised as Southern Cross University Alumni of the Year in the School of Education and Southern Cross University Outstanding Alumni of the year.

David was instrumental in the creation of the North Coast Initiative for School Improvement (NCISI), a research project involving 83 school leaders from the Far North Coast region of NSW, colleagues in Alberta, Canada and staff from Southern Cross University. On the 25th of October the NCISI project was the winner of the Southern Cross University Excellence in Community Engagement – Community Impact Award.
