Lissa Davies (MEd) is a Curricular Coordinator and Teacher Librarian at an elementary school in Edmonton, Alberta. Her areas of focus include technology coaching, Leveled Literacy Instruction, Makerspaces and Learning Commons Lead. Lissa has taught K to 6, both regular and special needs. She is passionate about best practises in literacy instruction, building a love of reading among students and in building capacity in using technology for teaching and learning.She is a contributor to Becoming and Being: Reflections on Teacher-Librarianship. Lissa, along with Karen Belter and Kelly Reierson, has been a leader in her district in including Makerspaces within the school setting and curriculum. She is president of the Alberta School Learning Commons Council, and has been instrumental in building a group of library staff who review current books and post them on the ASLC Litpicks website.

Karen Belter (MEd) is the Teacher Librarian at Centre High Campus. She is passionate about best practices in teaching especially as it relates to reluctant or disengaged learners. Presently, she is focused on experiential learning using digital applications and Makerspace initiatives to get students actively participating in their own learning. Karen co-authored and teaches two new dual credits/locally developed courses for the Working With Children Career Pathway. She has taught K-12 plus University in a variety of programs including special needs, International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement. Karen is a part of the Alberta School Learning Commons Council executive and is a reviewer for the ASLC Litpicks site.
Lissa and Karen are sought after speakers within Alberta, presenting on a variety of topics, including Google Apps for Education, Gone Google, Now What, Using Google for Research, Google Tips and Tricks, Best of the Best, New Books for School Libraries, I HATE to Read, Engaging Books for Reluctant Readers, Who Reads in High School?, Makerspaces, One School’s Journey, Makerspaces In Your Classroom, Using Inquiry-Based Learning, From Library to Learning Commons, Chromebooks in Div 1, No Way?
