Adrian Piccoli

Former NSW Minister for Education
Hon Professor of Practice, School of Education, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, University of NSW, Sydney
The Hon Adrian Piccoli MP served six years as the NSW Minister for Education with responsibility for 100,000 staff, 1.2 million students in 2,200 government schools and regulatory responsibility for 900 non-government schools across NSW. Adrian has led a wide-ranging program of educational, organisational and industrial relations changes in one of the largest education systems in the world. After six years of constantly maintaining a clear focus on ‘what works for students’ the change Adrian has led from the top has now become embedded in not just the culture of the Department of Education but across the entire NSW education sector. Many of the reforms were ground breaking and controversial but through Adrian’s leadership skills they have been embraced by educators and have received bi partisan political support.
